Ilok wines have been known to the English public since the 19th century, from being served during the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth and they are still exhibited in the Queen's collection of wines.
Ilocki podrumi d.d. own approximately 300 hectares of vineyards (from which 50 hectares are new cultures of traminac) and they harvest a further 350 hectares from private growers. The cellars can hold a total of 8.5 million litres of wine which are situated below ground level in order to provide the best conditions, methods date back to Ancient Roman times.
The quality of Ilok wines have been enchanced further due to wine which have been held in our archives which, were renewed in 1945. They include other variants of Ilok wines such as Traminac, Grasevina, White Pinot, Moslavac, Zeleni Silvanac and Frankovka. They all hold similar characteristics by having to ripen under a constant temperature, then after several years their fine bouquet and distinctive flavouring is finally revealed.
Variants were introduced including Traminac and Burgundac, which are of superior quality. Ilok wines obtain a very wholesome reputation for it's high-class wines and so are reknowned for its superiority across the globe.
